Rubik's Cube trivia — how many of these did you already know?

Dropping some general knowledge for fellow cube nerds, figured this community would appreciate it more than most: It was originally called the "Magic Cube" (Bűvös Kocka in Hungarian), renamed to Rubik's Cube in 1980 due to patent issues. Erno Rubik himself took about a month to figure out how to solve his own invention after building it. The first World Championship was held in Budapest, 1982, winning time was 22.95 seconds, which would barely count as a warm-up solve today. The WCA has regulated official competitions since 2004, with officials now in 70 countries, covering everything from standard solves to one-handed, blindfolded, and even feet-only events. A robot called Sub1 solved a cube in 0.887 seconds using two webcams to read the scramble and an Arduino-based controller to execute the solve - humans still can't touch that. The largest commercially available cube is a 17x17, with over 1,500 pieces, and can take hours to solve even for experienced cubers. If anyone's newer here and still solidifying the fundamentals before diving into trivia-level cube nerdery, this beginner's method breakdown is a solid reference: https://cubelelo.com/blogs/cubing/how-to-solve-a-rubiks-cube-beginners-method
